A few years ago I had a similar situation, (accidentally got silver color car paint on my EOS 500D) I took an ear bud dipped in turpentine, made small strokes and immediately used a damp wet cloth to wipe the area so the turpentine would not chew through the camera paint ... it worked. You have to make sure to wipe with wet cloth immediately after each stroke/rub, else you will ruin the original camera color.

Hold your horses folks, while you may be correct at some degree... but a lot of users out there would want take care of their gears for RESALE VALUE sake.

WTF is wrong with some people?? are you into photography or cosmetology?

WTF is wrong with some people?? are you into photography or cosmetology?

Believe it or not their are people who look at their camera more than through it.
Cameras are becoming status symbols just like phones have become. If 5d's came in gold i'm sure some people would opt for it.

LOL

I'm wondering, do you guys not wash your cars? I mean, heck, it's just a tool to transport you around. who cares if it's got mud and rust? or your clothes, I mean, really, they're just there to keep you warm and prevent other people from seeing your private areas. why do you want to get stains out? gosh, such status mongerers.
+1 and well said.
Just because someone likes to keep their gear clean, does not make them any lesser of a photographer than the rest of us, it just means they care about being neat, nothing wrong with that, in fact it is an enviable trait. There are many professional photographers who take very good care of their equipment and take pride in it.

If this stain is not "sticky", i.e. doesnt not leave dirt on your fingers and causes stains elsewhere: this is your cameras first scar and shows, it is yours in a case of doubt.
I take care of my equipment, but as long as it doesnt take effect on IQ or functionality, I wouldnt care.

I think the camera is un-salvageable; now quickly toss the unit into hydrofluoric acid before anyone gets hurt by that unit!   ::)

Cleaning puke is child's play compared to removing paint stain off your camera ::)
