The second unit has more ports but both should be able to do accurate colors.  I know this is not Canon or directly a camera item, but I'm sure there are some out there who could use one of these beasts with their digital darkroom.

I was tempted to order one, but I've spent too much this week already.

If someone just needs an IPS panel, here is a 24 inch refurbished unit for only $199.

Haven't heard of this "EQD" brand.  Would it be just as good as a Dell IPS 24", which often is on sale as well?

Where are you seeing EQD? I'm seeing Monoprice-branded displays. I assume they use LG panels.

He is referring to the post about a 24 inch panel.  Nothing to do with the original topic on a 30 inch monitor.

Thanks Mt Spokane Photography.  Yes, the 24 inch is an off brand monitor but the panel is good.  I think that the panels are all tested with the best performing ones going to top tier brands (with the high prices).  Then the good enough get put into these off brand cases.  There are a bunch that get sold on eBay through Korea, but a good one that I have is this 27" panel for $399.

The stand sucks so I just repurposed a rotating stand from a 20" HP panel.  The attachment screws are VESA compliant.

When the screen is black, I get a fair amount of light bleed from the corners.  Do not notice this when actually viewing the desktop or using the panel in a normal manner.

It is hard to go wrong with these panels.  Dollar for dollar, they are a great value.

The price of these super high res have dropped in price - I have a HP L3065 that i bought for about 1200$ about 2 yrs ago that I use with two 21" in portrait mode on either side - that's one of the pluses of the 30 inchers  - but both the 21" 1200x1600  have gone off the radar and now the 30" are going out - and i suppose this is why you will not see any new 30" panels - they are being replaced by the 27" slightly less resolution for about 700$ for HP or Dell. What we really need is something that has about a diagonal 27" and a higher pixel density - I supposed this is coming probably something with 4K resolution.

The 27" IPS panels typically have a 16:9 resolution of 2560 x 1440.  Basically a 1440p equivalent television.  Its known as QHD as it is basically the equivalent resolution of 720p monitors being arranged in a 2x2 array (all on one screen).  The 16:10 version of 2560 x 1600, known as WQXGA, equals 4K (4096000 pixels).

Here is an exhaustive list of all the resolutions out there.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graphics_display_resolution
