Take a look at the comparisons via DXO using the 5D3, comparisons vary on the 5DII.

5D3:
16mm
2.8-Canon
4/5.6 Tokina by a mile
8 Tokina
11 Tokina
22 Canon by a hair

20mm
2.8 Canon slightly better
4/5.6 Tokina
8 Tokina
11 Tokina
22 Even

28mm
2.8 Tokina
4/5.6 Tokina
8 Tokina
11 Tokina
22 Even

I see Canon being slight better at 2.8 in all the tests on the 5D3...( I'm using the Tokina for my wide angle star shots and trails at 2.8 and its really really good)... fantastic at f16 for landscapes. Here is one out at Badwater this year.. Flarealicious
Iso 800 f22 at 1/100

With some Flare or should I say "Flair"... at f22

at f14

I like the lens a lot stopped down, wide open it's fine but no such thing as resolution in the corners, and there's some CA/purple flaring with highlights. Otherwise it is great, but wish I could apply NDs for long daylight exposures
