Really?  The white one is better? Where I can find the information to verify the dynamic range claim?

Ugh I bought a black one cause the whites were backordered! Should I just take the backorder and go for white, did I make a mistake. Hopefully the black will be just as fun and maybe be less conspicuous.

Sorry bud, but you really should have gotten a white one. They have greater dynamic range and are much more fun...

For what it's worth, in Kai's hands-on review at DigitalRev, at 1:55 he mentions that the white one is a bit slippery compared to the black one due to the glossy finish, where as the black one has a grippy matte finish. Think that's enough to push me towards the black one instead.

Supposedly the white ones are in a glossy finish whereas the black ones are in a matt finish. Some say the white gloss is very slippery. That's why I picked black.

For all of the people who got in on this deal, just FYI - the burst rate with the 22mm (or 18-55) when using servo AF is terrible. Would definitely be worth it to fit one of your EF lenses if you expect to need 4+ FPS with servo during an outing.

I wonder if there will be a similar limitation for all EF-M lenses going forward.

I think you misunderstand the limitation.

"* During continuous shooting, the focusing mode for the shots after the first one depends on the lens used. When an EF-M lens is attached, the AF frame selected will be fixed and the camera will keep focusing the subject within the selected AF frame. When an EF or EF-S lens is attached, AF lock will be used."

In other words, with an EF-M lens, the lens actually refocuses on the subject between shots during the Servo burst, but with an EF or EF-S lens, the focus is fixed with the first shot, and does not track a moving subject.

exactly.

Nikon 1 with latest latest firmware will AF-track with any Nikon AF-S lens attached via adapter ... and much better and faster than EOS-M.

One of many reasons why the EOS M sucks and I won't get one, no matter how seemingly low the price may be.

Could this mean they are coming out with a new version of the EOS M?

And maybe within a couple weeks. I'd probably have gone for it if the 70D hadn't been introduced.

I'm thinking the same thing.  That new live-view AF is just aching to be put into a mirrorless body!!!

Can't wait to see the EOS-M Mark II!!

You're right, I was reading that on my phone and missed that part.

Let's hope that future EF-M lenses will improve on this...but we'll probably need to wait on a new body.

Well, yeah - but let's also hope they enable true Servo AF for EF/EF-S lenses that actually tracks moving subjects!

An intriguing offer has appeared on an Italian site:

EOS M + EFM 18-55mm + EFM 22mm + 90 EX + EF Mount adapter = "Full Kit EOS M" = 565€.

The vendor (galaxiastore) does not belong to my "preferred list"  :(  (which includes Amazon.it and two other shops) but other Italian people checked it and were happy about it.

I don't know yet. that was a photo sent to me by UPS. They have to deliver it to me.. But i'm also waiting for a reply from B&H on how to proceed with this..if i should accept it or if they can send me a replacement. I'm ok to keep it if the hardware is undamaged but i won't know until they deliver it to me tomorrow

No matter how things seemed when I got a package like this I would never keep it.  It MAY work and look OK but who knows a few days, weeks, or months down the road.  If there are issues you will wonder if it had something to do with how it was handled in shiping and even if you are sure it was handling you have lost your one chance to have something done about it.  Even if I had to wait I would get a replacement.

Glad mine from B&H was shipped FedEx!
