For goodness sake you two, I was trying to make the people that missed out feel better  ::)

But neither of you saved $100 so don't kid yourselves. RGF paid 10% sales tax, that is $37.30, plus shipping for a real bottom line total of closer to $430 per flash, a $66 saving without the batteries and charger, and who couldn't use another set of rechargeables? I have a million Eneloops but can always use more. But, for me, the killer of the deal is the short warranty on refurb, I use my six 600's a lot and love the fact that I have a 12 month warranty on such an item, resale value is higher on non refurb too should buying one be a commitment issue.

But you guys just keep rubbing it in to those who feel bad for missing out...........

I saved a 100$ per light. I didn't pay shipping and only 8.125% tax in TX. Plus I sold my OLD 580II's for more than I paid for them! I'll get the same for my 600's if I decide to sell them.

I was surprised to pay taxes...but I used the code for free shipping on my 600's.

I see this mentioned all the time, but I think it's just supply and demand. These items are typically restocked several times during each sale - I've been able to buy every item I've tried to get. The difference is that when there is no sale taking place they stay in stock vs selling out within a few minutes.

I just have a hard time believing that a stockable number of units just happened to get processed and approved from the refurbishment department in that two-day period.  They'll stay in stock for a reasonable period of time because, after tax and shipping, they'll cost maybe $50 less than brand new from another dealer who will also bundle them with extras and offer other incentives and what not.

I recently got one of the $80 shorty forty deals, but I had to check the webpage around the clock.  I used to have alerts set up but I got tired of dealing with that.

I guess I just wish they could walk the line between OMG-crazy-deal-sold-out-in-minutes and not-really-worth-it.

They come into, and go out of stock in minutes. I picked one up 2 days ago for $439. Of course, with tax it was $466. Not a great deal, but a good one.

More like $21 less than B&H since they have free shipping.

I was quoted $489 total shipped from the Canon USA website for a refurb one today so I passed.
