« on: July 12, 2013, 12:49:54 PM »

Via eBay

BigValueInc (98.2% positive feedback) is selling brand new Canon EOS 6D bodies for $1499, quantities are limited.

Canon EOS 6D Body via BigValueInc $1499

*Note: We have only heard one complaint about BigValueInc in the past, and it was about accessories missing from the box. However, BigValueInc did correct the situation in a timely manner. To save a lot of money, sometimes you’re sacrificing some service. If you do have an issue, I want to hear about it.

Okay, I'm starting to wish I wanted this camera  . . .

Waiting on a 5d3 at the low prices they were before . . .

*sigh*

Some day, my prints will come.

Had a minor problem with BigValue when I recently bought the 18-55 for the EOS M. They shipped via USPS instead of FedEx, which is kind of pain for me (USPS holds packages for my building at the post office, it's slower, and their tracking stinks). I emailed them about it and discovered that their email support is really dense. And they don't exactly go out of their way to let you know things are broken apart kits or grey market (I knew it going in of course, the lens was half the retail price).

Same issue.  I would say their listings are just plain deceptive.  I got a 24-70 f4 which was only $90-100 cheaper from BigValueInc than it was on B&H, so I took the risk.  They are located in NJ, it was listed as "new in box", etc, so I assumed it was a US warrantied lens.  Probably bought in big quantities or something, i dont know. It took a good amount of back and forth to get them to understand what I was even talking about when I asked if it was US warrantied or grey market/imported... I suspect intentionally playing dumb, because how would they NOT know if a product is US warrantied or grey market?  I imagine they get that question daily on ebay...

Anyway, they offered to cancel the transaction and I wrote back confirming that I did want to cancel.  4 hours later I got a shipping notification and followed up again.  This time they told me that the lens WAS in fact a US model.

So when I did get the lens it was in an unmarked kit box, but did have the US warranty.  In the end, I'm not too unsatisfied with getting a white box for the $100 savings (although I think this will also lower it's resale value equally or more), but I am frustrated with the fact that their listing did not specify the unmarked box.  Also, I think if it was actually a US model to begin with, they would definitely have know to list that as a selling point...

I would be hesitant to buy from them again unless the savings are just so low that it's worth potentially calling/messaging back and forth to confirm everything youre actually getting in the deal...

This is just amazing.  I think this camera will sink to $1200 one of these days.  Possibly by Christmas...

ONLY two things I don't like about it: XSync at 1/180 and 1/4000 max shutter speed.  With Hypersync, the sync speed is not too big a deal.  But on bright days, you can be really wishing you had 1/8000.  ND filter can easily help here.

Still...  If I ever need to decide between this and a 5D MKIII, I'd seriously consider the 6D.

Decent pricing for the 6D.

The 5D3 at $2499-$2699 USD would be a comparable deal (depending on how one defines comparable) and more in line with what it is worth now given that the product is a year and a half into its product cuycle. I was able to snag a Canon factory refurb with 1 year warranty for $2375 (based on a trade-in of my near worthless Digital Rebel through the Loyalty Program).

That's essentially what I was waiting for.  How much does loyalty knock off?  Refurb currently 2,799.21 and on backorder.

I bought a 7D w/kit lens when BigValueInc was listed on CR with a great deal. The camera was in working order and appeared to be new, but because they are not listed as a Canon authorized seller I did have questions about the warranty. They did not address those warranty issues in the eBay listing at the time, stating in the listing that it came with a Canon USAwarranty when it apparently did not per Canon if they are non authorized. Their tracking and communication stunk, plain and simple. I got a great deal, the camera worked, and a warranty wasn't a huge issue because this is my backup camera anyway, so I'm not going to complain too much. However, if you need a warranty that is absolutely certain, or you need good communication from sellers...read their negative feedback before you buy.

As for the price...the 6D really should have been introduced closer to this price. While it added some new features, I really view it as a step down from the 5DmkII in terms of build quality and ergonomics, and pricing it above the much-discounted 5DmkII really seemed greedy when it was announced. Personally, I ended up getting a 5DmkII because at the time (last Fall) it was cheaper and because I like the ergonomics.

I bought about 7 DSLRs from BigValueInc via eBay in the last 12 months. In general they are good, but some items came not as discribed, for example:

- No manual included for D7100 kit, and the acc bags not sealed. They partly refunded me $70.
- D7000 with 18-105 sold as kit, but they arrived in seperat boxes. The body in a body box and the lens in a white box. This happened 4 out of 5 cameras bought in 3 diffrent auctuation. They offer a free memory card to resolve my issue but i refused.

To be clear, Big Value does not list USA warranty in any of the ebay pages I have looked at (5Dlll and 6D). GetItDigital does make that claim and I purchased a 6D from them for $1542 and couldn't be happier. My 5Dll is now my beat/backup camera as the 6D is way more ergonomic, much more fun to shoot and is pretty much better at everything. Real auto ISO is unbelievably convenient at times.Yes, I miss the joy stick, but I got over it.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they stopped doing it after the mega sale they had last fall brought in some negative feedback. If you look, almost all their negative and neutral feedback is from October-December 2012, so they obviously sorted it out. I bought mine in November 2012 and it was listed as having a USA warranty AND they listed the USA warranty card as being in the box. Mine was in original packaging with a USA warranty card. Current listings correctly have you inquire with them about warranty status. Frankly, I didn't care much because I knew at the price it was probably not warrantied.

As for the 6D ergonomics, ergonomics is a highly subjective matter...a camera that feels good in two hands might feel different in two different hands. ;)

I took advantage of their c. $2500 price for the 5DIII last week.  As expected, it's a kit minus the lens and I don't see a warranty card of any sort in the box, but the camera is plainly new (zero shutter activity) and works as it should.  I've no idea how BigValue would perform if I encounter a problem or need/want to return it for some reason, but I was pleasantly surprised by how fast they processed my order: I ordered it on Wednesday evening after they had closed for the day, they shipped it on Thursday and I received it on Friday - i.e. just as fast as if I had used B&H or Adorama (I live comparably close to all three, so free shipping takes the same short time).  I can't say whether this is typical, of course, and I've not used them before, but I've not knowingly done anything to warrant any preferential treatment from them.  So far, so good....

For you deal diehards, don't forget the crazy package on BHphoto linked from the CR homepage...

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/994116-REG/canon__eos_6d_ef_24_105_pro_100_paper_.html

$2,599 which drops to $2,399 when you add to cart and checkout.  With a $400 mail-in rebate, that's only $1999 out of pocket (so long as you are diligent and submit the rebate).

If you are crafty, you can unload the 24-105mm lens and the Pro-100 printer for about $850-$900 combined.  That gives you a 6D body at around $1,099-$1,149 out of pocket, with a 16GB SD card to boot.

My package arrives Monday; I'll let everyone know how the resale of the printer and lens goes.

I got my package last night.  I wanted the 24-105 lens, so I listed the 6d on Amazon.  It sold in less than 2 hours.  I'm still trying to sell the printer and paper, but already my lens only cost $400, so I really could care less.  I'm going to sell the 17-55mm, so when all is said and done I should have $300 in my pocket.

Lol, nonsense - ! these are not legit sellers. They pull lenses out of boxes, void the warranty. Often grey market. It' s like saying someone in a back alley  or on Craigslist sells it for 1600, so that's a new price. Sorry to disappoint $1899 is the rate right now, 15XX you'll get something shady. Portraying these 2 semi legal sellers as some sort of standard begs teh question if the OP gets a commission.  HAs anybody ever gotten a 6D for less than 1600? No...If they did, we'd know about it on the forum by now... Just "I ordered it, can't wait , hahahah" messages with no results. Face it people, there's no $2K 5D3, and no $1.5K 6D - sorry, and yes I would want that too....
