Save $50 on Adobe Lightroom 5 at B&H

From B&H Photo

For the next 24 hours, you can save $50 from B&H Photo on the software download or boxed version of Adobe Lightroom 5. This is the full version and not the upgrade. I believe the upgrade is $79 from Adobe directly.

Yea. B&H sent me an email telling me that because I made a recent purchase, I would get $50 off LR5. Then I went to CanonPriceWatch and saw the sale was available to everyone. Since I only have LR3 and have no intention of renting through the cloud, I bought it anyway.

Took advantage of the same deal from Adorama a couple weeks ago and love it. Love it.

PS: I also want nothing to do with the Cloud/subscription model. I'm hoping Lightroom doesn't get lumped into it, but I'm not optimistic...

To LR 5 users, sorry if this was answered before, but is it worth the upgrade from LR4 (besides the better splash screen, mentioned in a prior thread)?

I have the same question. The more powerful heal tool would be nice, but is that and the other upgrades worth it to a very budget minded amateur?

B&H updated their promo, that's why it says out of stock... they sent a new email for recent buyers with a unique promo code that will give the discount.

Yes it's worth the upgrade from LR4 to LR5.

Still cheaper to upgrade from Adobe site if you have LR 4 ($79).  Not sure if you get the same price if upgrading from LR 3 or earlier.  I downloaded LR 5 trial yesterday, but didn't update my catalog.  Looks like only two features that would be of use in upgrade from LR 4:  better healing and being able to work in catalog while on the road.  In the "getting rid of stuff you don't want in the photo" category, is the new LR5 functionality as good as PSE FOR THAT FEATURE or are they now about the same (I know there are many other differences, for now I'm just interested in that feature)?  Thanks.

Nobody can answer that for you.

I'm really glad to see the heal tool upgraded, but it's not enough for me to upgrade.  If I have to do any serious amount of healing I just jump to PS.

I'm also glad to see perspective control added in, but I already own the DxO plugin.  However, it's not seamless, in that it creates a new file.  If I do any more big projects in RE/Architectural I'd probably upgrade simply because it's a timesaver when doing it on a large amount of photos...  but the hobbyist in me couldn't care less.

Radial filters and whatnot are nice, but I can do all that in PS if I want.

So for me, no, not worth it.  But it depends on what your needs are.  I'm also assuming you're talking about upgrading from 4 to 5.
