Well, the same seller has the same kit listed twice for $1.2k or so, and then for $9.5k. Somebody is not getting it, indeed.

All it takes is one sucker, and the seller hits the jackpot... but the actual value of that package is less than the eBay seller fees on the $9500 asking price.

This is it exactly.  This particular vendor seems to have multiple, nearly identical, packages with both realistic (and sometimes even good) prices and ridiculous prices.  And informed buyer obviously will not bite on the jacked up price, but there are enough people out there with more money than brains, see that it includes a "pro wide angle" lens and buy it.

Perfectly legal, morally questionable.  Of course, one could argue people that are that dumb need to be relieved of the responsibility of having that kind of money to burn.

A lot of the accessories included in that kit are throwaways at best. $9500 for what's offered is highway robbery. Take the 7D body and run!

When I saw that BigValueInc. was the vendor, my sense of surprise was immediately dispelled. These guys are known for shady dealings and have very questionable customer service (check the eBay feedback and do a Google search of them through the BBB). Lest we forget the "Great 5D Mark III Fiasco of Thanksgiving, 2012?" That's how I learned my lesson when dealing with these guys.

As has been pointed out, while morally ambiguous, the deal is perfectly legal.

Wow that is truly astonishing! That may be the single worst one of these types I've ever seen! The three lenses are not even really three lenses! Two are just adapters of the sort that people used to sort of get away to an extent on old lo-res video cameras not SLRs! And the lens is one of the worst performing lenses ever made! Can you image putting a cheap magnifier on top of the 75-300mm and seeing what that does to the already questionable bare 300mm performance???

A 55-250 STM and an 18-55 IS kit would do you a million times better and cost no more and well in this case a LOT :D less.

No.  The seller is probably temporarily out of stock, so for whatever reason, they opted to jack the price up to something unrealistic so no one would buy, rather than end the listing.  I see this happen from time to time.

ahh that could be, they should've made it 100,000 to really make it clear though

Well, if an empty box is worth more than $1K, why not:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Canon-EOS-5D-Mark-II-21-1-MP-Box-/161084866656?ssPageName=ADME%3AX%3ARTQ%3AUS%3A1123&nma=true&si=AjZU4fkjms1tibhTjzx3MDVFz4g%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

WOW - That must be one awesome box.

Am I missing something - did he then relist and receive another $620 winning bid?  I've got to get into the box business.

Yes. Then he relisted again for $25, put the word BOX in front and got 0 bids.

So you may want to reconsider your intention to get in the box business.

Only totally stupid people buy a box without a camera for a lot of bucks like 1k.

Want sell by 1Ds Mark III box (box only) for 2500 bucks, my 1D X box (box only) for 3000 bucks and my H5D-60 box (box only) for 15000 bucks.-big grin

You guys really don't get it at all.

Sellers usually set their listing prices to a extremely high amount when they're current out of stock so that no one will buy the product. They will change it back down when the products listed are in stock again.

Well, the same seller has the same kit listed twice for $1.2k or so, and then for $9.5k. Somebody is not getting it, indeed.
The two kits you listed come with probably some third party remote instead of the 580EX II. The sell the EX600 for 500$. A quick search on their listings (Cannon + flash) also has a 9k T2is:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Canon-EOS-550D-Rebel-T2i-SLR-Body-17PC-4-LENS-8GB-NEW-/22078252319

Seems like all the kits that are outrageously priced have a 580EX II.

THis seems to be ADM (Additional Dealer Markup) by perhaps $5000
