Underwater Housing for 5DMKII (Kickstarter/Indiegogo?)
« on: October 15, 2013, 02:04:39 AM »
Hello All,

I've read all the topics and threads including all the replies on a decent, budget underwater SLR housing, but had this quick question.

I saw a few months back about a Kickstarter or Indiegogo project to sponsor a new company to build a housing in the $200-300 range with the ports an extra cost depending on the lens.  I'm sure since then, they've been very successful at their product as it looks like the $3K housing, but way cheaper.

Just curious, did anybody come across this? Any feedback or comments are welcomed.

Planning on stopping by Balmorhea, TX in January. ;)

Thanks,
Tp

Thanks for the info. With a quick search I found this: http://fstoppers.com/introducing-outex-a-somewhat-affordable-underwater-housing-kit
But that doesn't look very safe to me, at least not yet.

The cheapest is probably a ikelite.  That is what I use for my mark ii.  It works fine.   Underwater is never cheap.

I've used the Outex case serval times with good results.  The company was helpful when they accidentally sent me the wrong piece and overnighted the new one. I used it in Maui last month.

There is one more manufacturer from Hong Kong - Meikon  https://www.facebook.com/pages/Meikonhk/1528885284057597
I use their case for Canon 5DIII with 24-105L
It's not that expensive and very good for snorkeling.
Their cases can be used for diving  as well (but not the case for 5DIII, it has no option for external flash).
