Yay! Free Stuff! I did a pre-announcement of the contest on Facebook some time ago, and today again at the Planet5D interview. So here it finally is.

The Grand Prize: The winner may pick one of the following lenses.

• Canon EF 8-15 f/4L Fisheye
• Canon EF 70-300 f/4-5.6L IS

The 2nd Prize A new bag! Once again from Gura Gear.

• Gura Gear Chobe 19-24L

Other Prizes I will be giving out random prizes to people that participate. You never know when you’re going to get a message from me giving something away.

How it works? It’s simple, this is a photo contest. The best photograph at the end of the day will win the grand prize. The runner-up will receive the 2nd prize.

Where do I post the images? You post the images on our forum. There are threads in the forum called “Lens Giveaway Contest”. Post to the corresponding thread for your image submission.

The categories The following categories are what your photos must fall under. We’re going to be pretty lenient on this, the categories are just a guideline.

• Abstract
• Action & Sport
• Astrophotography
• Black & White
• Creative Lighting
• Event (Wedding, concert, commercial events)
• Flora
• Landscape
• Macro
• People
• Street
• Underwater
• Wildlife

The Rules

• All images must be posted in the forum to qualify. No email or Facebook submissions will qualify.
• Images must be 700px wide on their longest axis. Larger and smaller are not permitted.
• You may enter the contest as many times in as many categories as you’d like. Remember, one entry per post.
• No commenting in any of the contest threads. They are strictly for images.
• You must use a Canon camera to make the images. I will request EXIF data of all the winners.
• The contest is worldwide, however there are countries in turmoil I will not ship to. I.E Iraq, Central Africa Republic, those sort of places.
• The contest runs from now until November 15, 2011.
• Only post in the boards that are prefixed with *Contest*
• You may watermark your images, but the watermark must be in the corners and not the center of the image.
• You may give a brief description of your photograph.
• No nudity or pornography. If you have an image that you’re not sure whether it’s appropriate, please email me.
• If you can’t figure out a category to post your image in, please email me.
• I will select the best 10 images from each category after the November 15, 2011 end date. Then a panel of judges will select the best in each category and present them, then the same panel will select the overall winner.

Terms & Conditions

• There is no age restriction
• You retain full ownership of your images. They’re yours, not mine.

What if the picture I took was shot in JPEG? Can i still join?

Just wondering, is there a rule against cropping an image? What about exposure and colour adjustment?

Is it allowed to post older photos, or do we have to shoot from now on?

Given the amount of pics up so far: Poor judges, that's gonna be a long sift for winners...

Could end up as long combined as the Holga thread, plus work actually looking at the pics not just picking random names...

ps, questions:
- Does it have to be a Canon Lens? (i've seen enough Sigmas/Tamrons, and posted enough Lensbabies so far that I hope not)
- Does it absolutely have to be RAW? I've only just started shooting RAW since I got a new comp with much more drive space...
- How much PP is allowed? I leave my images pretty much untouched once it passes DPP, but i'm sure a lot of people like HDR, dust removal, etc...

Hmm, my EOS 650 doesn't produce EXIF info. ;-)

The competition just started, yet thus far I've already seen plenty of pics not respecting the (very few and simple) rules posted... go figure.

Am I missing something? Nowhere do I see rules stating that it must be shot raw, yet I see several questions about it above. ~confused~

As I understand it, no restrictions on date taken, editing/processing/cropping/format shot (eg jpg vs raw) simply that it must be posted at 700px or less on longest side, and must be taken with a Canon *camera* (lenses not mentioned).

The only question I do have: where do pet pictures go - has anybody asked and been told which category for those? I've sent a PM to Fearless Leader asking the same question, but in case anybody knows....

Yeah, he's edited the top post a few times without responding directly to questions, fair enough, there's going to be enough work ahead for him...

And are pets not 'wildlife'? I've seen a few in 'street' too. but as is always the case in competitions, fit the image to the subject, not the other way around...

I've seen a few over 700pixels (think i accidentally did one myself too, forgot to click 'ok' on the scale image dialogue. And i've seen a few sepia / colour-wash in the B+W thread. Monochrome they may be, but not Black and White.

Still, a clarification on the amount of PP would be good, i've seen a few that could only be a few images pasted together...
(layers ok, if they were all taken with a canon camera? how about multi-image HDR or panoramas?)

Wow! The sheer number of entries is daunting, Looks like the judges are going to have a ball 

I am assuming color & exposure adjustments should be fine, composite images on the other had may not be. Need some clarification on this.
