Can you estimate a used camera price for me?
« on: November 11, 2013, 12:28:04 PM »
Hello all there is a Canon 1Ds on my local Craigslist and I was thinking about picking it up. The seller is asking 500$ and while I think that has to be close it's hard to put a price on it as there isn't too many for sale at the moment. Found a couple on eBay and they're asking 600$ or higher with zero bids. I do have an old 1D classic and used it for a client the other day and the photos were wonderful! 13 year old camera and 4 megapixels still makes great photos! I wonder what a 11 year old camera with 11 megapixels would do!

Here are couple links that shows the price folks have either offered for sell or sold them for.  Always negotiate, too.

Ken Rockwell tip (!): eBay has a checkbox at the left side of their listings that says something like "sold objects"; check that and see the final selling prices. Canon 1Ds does 320 to 520 euro, and 530 euro seems to be the starting point for 1Ds mk. II bodies. I'll say it again: euro. YMMV a little :)
Fed up with brandism.

Look at the sold or completed auctions on ebay to see the selling prices.  Read the description and see what is included.

I found one that sold for $600, that's top dollar.  I'd pay maybe $400 or 500 depending on if its all there, box and accessories, and its in good condition.

@Rat thanks for that eBay tip I didn't know you could do that since I typically browse on a tablet app.

400$ seems to be the lowest. The ad says it's the body charger and battery so not quite complete, guess I will see what the seller says if they contact me. Thanks for the help!

I usually look at Amazon used prices to find what people are asking for...  it's another market driven option.

I  don't trust ebayers  as much as those who sell on Amazon...  and that's probably because I'm pretty trust worry and I sell on Amazon.
Upgrade  path.->means the former was sold for the latter.
