Remember the good old times when $100 used to buy a decent lens?
Quote from: Pi on November 14, 2013, 06:19:33 PMRemember the good old times when $100 used to buy a decent lens?I seem to recall the Canon 50mm f/1.8 FL metal construction for around $39.95. The canon historical museum places the original cost at 14,800 yen which at the official exchange rate in 1964 of 360 yen to a US dollar comes out to $41.11 so my memory is not that far off. And, the 55mm f/1.2 would have been almost exactly $100 with the 58mm f/1.2 coming in for a few dollars less. And the S mount 50mm f/.95 cost a mere $158. Try to find one for that now.http://www.ebay.com/itm/Canon-RF-50mm-f0-95-21917-Minty-Caps-/370877829460?pt=Camera_Lenses&hash=item565a0a9154
With consideration of inflation, what would that be?
