Does the significant price drop of the 24-70 f/2.8L II give an indication that an IS version is coming soon???
Considering all the videographer business Canon is losing to Tamron, I think delivering on one of the four patented 24-70 f/2.8 IS designs they filed years ago sometime in 2014 would be a wise move.
For wedding videographers, Tamron 24-70 f/2.8 VC > Canon 24-105 F/4 IS > Canon 24-70 F/4 IS > Canon 24-70 f/2.8 II. Canon needs a 24-70 2.8 IS lens to beat the Tamron with this staple photo/videography group.
While the 24-70 f/2.8 II is an extremely sharp lens, it fails to meet the needs of many with its lack of IS in its up to 70mm focal length, especially in its astronomical price range.
Canon needs to release a 24-70 f/2.8 IS for ~$2299, and permanently drop the 24-70 f/2.8 II to $1699 without needing rebates.
