6D clearance sale
« on: January 03, 2014, 03:40:45 PM »
The Henry's camera chain in Canada is having a clearance sale and the 6D is listed......

Strangely enough, neither the 60D or the 7D are listed as clearance items...

Gentlemen, start the rumour-mongering :)

Clearance doesn't necessarily mean discontinued... just that they are branding the sale as a clearance sale.

Upgrade  path.->means the former was sold for the latter.

The interesting thing is that they have every Canon DSLR on sale.... but they only refer to the 6D as clearance...

Macy's consistently advertises a "one-day" sale on Saturdays that includes a "preview day" on Friday with the exact same prices. Someone must have done the research and found that "one-day sale" generates more interest. I'm guessing calling something a "clearance" sale has a similar effect.

6D mark 2 on the way?
I wouldn't be surprised, test run of dual pixel AF in a FF sensor?

Don, Henry's 'Clearance Sale' price is the same as Aden's and Vistek's everyday price.  Meh.  I wouldn't read too much into it.
Looking at life through a 1D4 and a 5D3 plus lots of red rings.

Forget the clearance sale of the 6D from Henrys.
Lets look at the huge price drop from when it was introduced, compare all prices now from all stores versus when it was introduced @ $2099.

Replacement coming or not?

Probably in about two years.

Why do you think that? And, why not sooner?

I mean, yeah sure... its FF but... its cheap...
Unless, you think the price will go back up after boxing week/month.
If they are planning on releasing a 7D Mark 2 (or something similar), how can they price the mark 2 over the 6D?

Henrys is interesting.  I started buying from them last year because I don't travel to the U.S. as much for work.  This year, I went to do some more shopping online and noticed their selection has been drastically decreased.  If you look at their bag selection, for example, they don't carry many of the models that I would consider "normal" models.  I just searched for a long-lens bag and came up with nothing.

Maybe their clearance sale is to significantly decrease the value of their inventory costs (they might just have too much $$$ tied up in the clearance items).

My opinion is that they are hurting from online competition. They no longer carry high end products in store and prices are high. You expect to pay twenty percent more for the convenience of shopping in store....

I just find the last add interesting as it called the 6D clearance, but not the 60D??? And the 6D is a good selling item.....
