Two Cinema EOS Cameras Coming for NAB? [CR1]
« on: March 19, 2014, 09:14:24 AM »

A few comments in passing about new cameras for NAB next month in Las Vegas. One person described the coming announcement as “two cool cameras, most likely for the Cinema EOS line”.

Canon was very quiet at NAB last year, and I except they’ll make a bigger of a splash this year.

More to come…

If the 7D2 shoots 4K video, wouldn't NAB be the place to announce it....

Then we could shoot high resolution video of Bigfoot and Nessie

This is a CR1, combined with your CR1.
What if... Canon remains quiet at NAB again? Just saying....

Nonetheless, I would be ecstatic if they did release 2 cameras... only problem is that if its in the same price range as the previous line of a Cinema EOS cameras...

This is a CR1, combined with your CR1.
What if... they disappoint again? Just saying....

Then I don't get to shoot high resolution video of Bigfoot and Nessie......

I'm taking the recent comments from Canon executives hinting at the need to "improve DSLR video quality" to mean they could give us compressed 4k in the 7DII.  If in the $2k range for body only, I'll order one right away.

To save face for their higher end customers, Canon can --

-- unlock 4k raw capability in the 1DC through firmware or announce a successor model
-- Update the C300 and C500 with improved specs through firmware or free dual-pixel upgrades or simply lower the prices a bit. The pros who use these cameras will not stop using them because of a 4k 7DII. They'll just also buy the 7DII.

Or Canon can announce a 7DC, separate from the 7DII, which would focus only on 4k video, and then charge $4k for it :)

Now... this... is something I would be interested in... especially the 7DC.

I was looking at the floor chart for NAB. The two biggest booths are Sony and Canon. Sony is in the largest booth, but the next two biggest are both Canon and looks like more total area. The Panasonic booth is about a quarter the size and the Nikon booth is half that again..... the GoPro booth is the same size as Nikon...

With all that space they must be up to something.....
