It occurs to me that putting the GPS inside a magnesium alloy body might not actually work because the magnesium alloy body is going to act as a pretty good shield and keep out all of the useful RF from the satellites.

It will be curious to see how well the GPS inside the A77 fares or how/where they've done the wiring for the GPS antennae in that camera.

DPR tested the GPS as part of their review here:  It was pretty much as expected, took a few minutes to acquire signals when first turned on, but worked well after the startup.
