DxO: Sony A7s gives 13.2 stops of DR, not 15.3

So it would seem that Sony's hype around more DR from this new sensor has failed to deliver at DxO's testing labs.

... and I'm willing to trust DxO more than I am Sony.

Now watch as we get 40MP+ sensors over the next year or two with no compromise in ISO or DR.

Hmm the claim makes Sony seem kinda silly. I guess they mean after in camera processing and comparing at 4MP equivalent or something hah.

That said, WOW, at very high ISO though it has unprecedentedly amazing DR though, much better than even 6D or 1DX! And to maintain that and be pretty good at low ISO is the best overall DR (even if a ways off from the best right at ISO100). Of course, assuming Sony didn't do some high ISO RAW manipulation tricks (although looking at some test photos, it seems like the ultra high ISO DR improvements may very well be largely real, of course 36MP has tight grain so it's a balance between tight grain of 23-36MP cameras for medium and upper tone and upper dark tones SNR vs. areas that are very, very dark in dark high iso scenes).

The trick downconvert 36 megapixel to 8, is not so surprising when replicated in downconvert 12 megapixel to 8. ::)
However, real-world images of Sony A7s are very good at ISO6400, and seem better than 1DX. :o
