Different colour palettes in different software
« on: September 01, 2014, 04:50:18 AM »
Hi all,

I was wondering if others have the same problem I have with different colour palettes in different Windows programs.

My images are red tinted in Picasa where as in Lightroom 5 they are a more pleasant Yellow/Green tint.
Also in Windows explorer preview they are more red then on opening in the viewer they are yellow/greener.

Is there anyway to get all applications in the Windows OS to use the same palette?

Thanks everyone.

(Using windows 8.1 and I don't like it)

Obviously the answer is yes, but is also a lot more complicated than that. What monitor are you running and what is your colour profile? What is your working space in lightroom?

Lightroom can handle AdobeRGB while Windows Explorer (in Windows 7 at least) cannot; that is the likely reason for the difference between the two.  Photomechanic is terrific for sorting through a heap of photos and it displays AdobeRGB properly as well.  Windows 8 I can't speak about.
