How did you get an 840mm f5.6?
Too often we lose sight of the fact that photography is about capturing light, if we have the ability to take control of that light then we grow exponentially as photographers. More often than not the image is not about lens speed, sensor size, DR, MP's or AF, it is about the light.

How did you get an 840mm f5.6?

I expect Doug is using a 600 F4 Mark II with a 1.4x TC.

Night shot over the Missouri River from a lookout in Nebraska.  South Dakota is on the other side of the river.
I've been impressed with the 7D Mark II.  Not bad image quality and noise for this type of shot.

went out this morning getting to know my 7d II and so far I am happy with it just need to play with AF settings more,love the fps but had to pump the af-on button to maintain focus.
Current toys-
   7d II-6d-70d-M all gripped - 24-105L,100L macro,70-300L,300f/2.8L II,1.4x-2x III extender

deer is sigma 120-300 + tc-2001 @600mm f/8 2500 iso, i think it looks really good.

squirrel is sigma 120-300 @300 f/2.8
