$100,000 - How would you spend it?

Nature of the game: If you received 100k, with no concern for tax deduction, and had to spend it all on gear - whether that be photo or video - how would you spend it? List out what you would buy, its respective estimated cost, and how it would be used. You could spend it all on an Arri Alexa Plus, or you could buy 2000 LP-E6 batteries. You could spend your money on equipment that it's sole purpose is to turn around and rent out to make more money, or you could spend it all on novelty equipment that you let sit in a glass case and never touch. Completely your call.

Either way, you have to spend as much of that 100,000 as possible on equipment. No "I'd buy a 7D and save the rest" ...it's a hypothetical game of frivolity - in this dream world, the economy isn't of concern, and the point is to create more or less a "dream list" of what you could do with that cash.

Let's see...

A ~4000mm telescope, equatorial mount and tripod to support it all -- I've always wanted to see/shoot the planets and stars.

A pair of 1DXs and a 1DIV (I think the 1.3x crop would still be better for shooting wildlife).  Not 2000 spare batteries, but a few!

The EF 400mm f/2.8L IS II -- once it's finally available!  And the 1.4x TC III.

The EF 100mm f/2.8L IS -- no brainer.

The EF 50mm f/1.0L -- gotta see it!  And the 50mm f/1.4 II -- if Canon decides to finally update this lens.

The EF 200mm f/1.8L -- tried it at Adorama; would love to use it in the field.

The 5D III and the EF 200-400mm w/built-in 1.4x TC -- if/when they get released.

The EF 24mm f/1.4L II -- I use the EF 28mm f/1.8 a lot, so I think I would like it.   

The EF 14mm f/2.8L II -- I have the original, but the lens flare is annoying.

The TS-E 24mm II -- interested in learning how it works/affects perspective.

Both the 15mm and 8-15mm fisheye lenses.  Want to compare the two.

Almost forgot:  the new Pixma Pro1 printer.  And a couple of years worth of paper and ink.

Finally, a few dozen of the fastest SanDisk 36GB CompactFlash cards (I don't want to potentially lose 128GB of photos, because a card fails or gets lost!), and a bunch of internal and external 1TB drives to store/backup it all!

I guess a 1dx, a 5d2 and a full compliment of L lenses.

Oh, and a hot, red Corvette to quickly get me to places I want to shoot.

A big-a** pro printer and a ton of Gold Fibre Silk.  Both TS-E Ls, the 85 f/1.2L, and a 70-200 II.  Oh, and a 5DII while I'm at it.

And use the rest to live off of & travel while I take a year off work to actually use the gear I already have.

well i would go for two canon 1D X and all canon EF prime lenses and some zeiss glas.

a nice gitzo tripod, an eizo CG275W-BK, epson stylus pro 9700, the best notebook i can get and the rest i would spend for traveling.

if i can not spend it for traveling i would spend it for useless gear or maybe some hasselblad stuff.

Well id be grabbing a 1DX to cover any Photo stuff i wanted to do and then a C300, a set of Cine Primes, a couple of nice canon lenses such as the 70-300, but basically stuff that can be used for video and a heap of extras such as spare batteries, Letus MCS bundle and CF cards etc.

Doesn't sound like much once you start adding it all together.

$100K isn't what it used to be.

200 F2 - for sure (I cam e this close to buying a used one but I balked and it was gone) and pretty much every prime that Canon makes! A couple of 1DX's and a full complement of Profoto lights and a studio to put 'em in...

I wouild also like to experiment with a Hasselblad - OPPS, there goes the 100K!!!

I'm interested in portraits, nature, and events, so the equipment I'd be interested in (a Canon 7D, fast lenses from as wide as I can get to 200mm f/2, tripod to hold camera + laptop, bags) would probably cost  <$25,000

So I would spend most of the money to take vacations and travel.

Saw a nice Jupiter 125 f/1.5 for about $1500 on ebay, that's damn fast for a 13" or so lens...

  :-[not joy killing but, maybe pay my mortgage to enjoy more photography But if not, enough ample memory space, one more lens like the canon ef 70-200mm f/2.8 L MKII, and maybe one larger reaching one, and the rest on trips around the world beginning, and ending in France , in order to take many,many photos of everything available, and especially the locals, and their arts!!
