Is 1D Mark IV boring or almost perfect?

(1/6) > >>

markIVantony:
I've followed this forum for almost a year now (as an unregistered observer), and I've noticed a distinct lack of threads about the 1D Mark IV, -compared to- 5D MKII, 7D, 60D, etc, where most of those topics relate to recommended lenses, image quality, debate of the week on sensor size-vs-MP-vs-ISO, etc.  I only recall seeing 1DMkIV threads in the context of the now-confirmed 1Dx.

I shoot almost exclusively with the 1DMKIV, so I was wondering why there aren't as many discussions about this great body.  It's just as good a wedding, journalist, sports, etc. camera as any other.  Is it just a non-controversial camera :-), or are there just not as many issues as with other bodies?

Becuase people with 1DIV's are mostly out using them to shoot pictures, and have less time to participate in online forums?   ;)

Viggo:
YEah, I second that, out of reach for a lot of people. Cost issue I guess.

I use the mk4 and I'm not a pro, but use it for all it's worth and it lacks some Af-tracking abilities in lower light, but other than that there's nothing wrong with it, and I know it by heart so less need to start threads.  :P :-X

Mendolera:
For me the Mark IV would be a dream camera... I think its the best worlds for the photography I enjoy (Action and some low light stuff).. and IMO its the best camera Canon camera you can buy until the 1DX is released.

For me photography is strickly a hobby and therefore the Mark II and 7D are more in my budget  :(

I jumped to the 1D4 from the 7D. Absolutely the right move.

Great IQ
Great AF
Great metering - especially with speedlights
Great functions

I am not fussed about mp - I only print to A3 - but high iso is important and it is one stop better than the 5DII and at least 2 more than the 7D

What is there to discuss? Perhaps a few techniques - but this is probably the wrong forum
