Canon EOS-1D X Battery Issues?

1D X's new battery LP-E4N (page 10) - "...The inside of the battery now uses a larger number of smaller cells and so the battery capacity has increased from 2300mAh to 2450mAh..."

D4's new battery EN-EL18 - "...the 10.8V/2000mAh EN-EL18's seemingly inferior specs when put against the D3S' 11.1V/2500mAh EN-EL4a..."

If Nikon is reducing the capacity for the sake of the new compliance, then why is Canon going the other way around?

The 1DX has three times the number of processors compared 1DIV yet the battery capacity has only increased slightly. It's not surprising that power is an issue. What is completely surprising is that their engineers are trying to address the issue so late in the design cycle. Power requirements are usually known and defined in the specs very early in the design of a new product. The only thing I can think of is that the "enhanced" DIGIC 5 ASIC that they are using requires a lot more power than originally expected.

I have 50.000 norwegian kroners here doing the same. Complete insanity I can't spend them when I want too. For those who doesn't bother to see exchange rate and wonder if you'll save money if getting it in Norway, it's $8229.. (yeah, that's what it costs up here...)

Sorry, I don't have a link. I was told by a guy who works for a news agent. He was invited to attent the NPS(Nikon professional service) meeting in Beijing to try the Nikon D4. He heard this rumor from that meeting.

How come this topic gets no replies, when the "fixable in firmware" topic is flooding with responses? I think the battery issue is MUCH bigger deal and it could possibly stop the camera from hitting the shelves entirely.
