I've posted this before in the Landscape thread but thought it might had to the 50/1.4 one as it fitted the bill perfectly when shooting straight into the light.

A six frame panoramic taken with 5DII + 50/1.4 @f11 1/10th, ISO 100. Each frame is the same single exposure, no bracketing, just exposed to lose the very highest highlights, working to the strengths of the Canon chip. Even in this situation 11.5 stops of DR is plenty. Another 2 wouldn't have held the sun.

Nice work Sporgon ;)

I owned f1.4 for 2-3yrs. Nice lens.

Thanks Dylan. Regarding the 50/1.4 I didn't mention it was on manual focus.

Partly because I wanted it on about 8 metres to get maximum dof at f11,

But mainly because the AF has the common 50/1.4 failing : it's broken.

Really must get it sent in some time  ;D

We had a little bit of a snow flurry tonight.  I got this really curious photo as the snow blew around.

f/2.2
1/400 s
Window light

Love/hate this lens. It is a great piece of glass when it nails focus. And in this case it did.
CanĀ“t wait for the Sigma 50 /1.4 Art and see how it compares to the 50 /1.2 L.

Couple shots that I was pleased with. My girlfriend sells jewellery as a hobby, I took some pictures so she could sell on the internet. Not bad for this poor creaky lens, but the 100 L macro is one of the next lenses on my list.

Logan, get a 12mm extension tube for the 50mm, at f8 it is just as sharp as the 100L Macro, and a tube is much cheaper.
Too often we lose sight of the fact that photography is about capturing light, if we have the ability to take control of that light then we grow exponentially as photographers. More often than not the image is not about lens speed, sensor size, MP's or AF, it is about the light.

Playing about with my daughter's 1100D. I'm surprised by how much latitude there is in the RAW data. I can pull it around much more than I thought would be possible.

This is just one exposure, no flash, shot on the 50/1.4 @ about f2.8. ISO 200

...with canon 30d

1. second image was captured in very dimply lit environment (to see how far i can push my ability to hand hold, with violation speed 1/50s, while trying to capture...)

2. canon 430ex ii was used with last image (on camera flash)

Thanks Dylan, I find the bokeh of the 1.4 lens can be quite good if the scene is right.

Here's one that I just couldn't resist; shot at f1.6

I start seeing the point of sharpness is not everything in photography ;D
