Here are two images that I did with the lovely Canon EF50mm f/1.4 USM on a Canon 5D MKII body.

Let's try the right thread.

Some more from the humble 50 f/1.4.

It looks like I had trouble reading on two days  :o.

It's been a while since I used this lens, but it had almost exclusive use the weekend before last. I've since reprocessed the first one to tone down the pink reflections in the model's face.

I think the portrait of this first model that you showed in the '5D mkiii' gallery was really first rate. This one here I think would have been more flattering with a longer lens

You're probably right. Sometimes when it becomes a bit rushed, it's too easy to carry on with the same lens.

Need to make a part of the image pop?

Just love the contrast and colour straight from the shot without the need to post process:

Had the 1.8, but finally decided to go for the 1.4 not the 1.2L.
Yes, an old lens, but still a worthwhile addition - especially for those without a 50mm

Montreal's Carabins Volley season opener, I good way to push my 600D on his weak side of the iso, 50mm, f/1.6, ISO 3200 1/800s. Damn, this 7DII is way too far away!

Ahh yes, rough bokeh, purple fringing, unreliable AF motor... was a lot of fun to use on my T1i back when "large aperture" was all new to me and on APS-C it performed rather well even wide open. But on FF it needs to be stopped down to the point where you'd ask yourself why you didn't settle with a zoom instead? Stopped down, the lens is indeed excellent from F/2.8 onwards, but why on earth get a fast prime which isn't so usable at it's native fast speed?

Love this lens.  Really needed the ability to micro adjust on my T1i, but once adjusted on the 5Diii, it was like a having a new lens.

All images shot on the T1i

I'm confused. So are you telling yourself that your lens needed adjustment, so you adjusted it on a 5Diii and are now using it again on your T1i and think the lens is now "adjusted" via the other camera?

In any case - it's a nice lens. If it came with better build quality I would have likely never switched to the 50L. Still using a 70s/80s FD 50 1.4 with film which in fact is really the same lens still only much better built than the plastic EF cousin.
5DII - 50L - 135L - 200 2.8L - 24-105 - 580EXII - 430EXII - FD 500/8 - AE1-p - bag full of FD lenses

I took my 8 yr old son out on a photo shoot yesterday and he got this great shot.

Afterwards, we decided it was finally time for him to have his own flickr account.  He has some great shots.

I've posted this before in the Landscape thread but thought it might had to the 50/1.4 one as it fitted the bill perfectly when shooting straight into the light.

A six frame panoramic taken with 5DII + 50/1.4 @f11 1/10th, ISO 100. Each frame is the same single exposure, no bracketing, just exposed to lose the very highest highlights, working to the strengths of the Canon chip. Even in this situation 11.5 stops of DR is plenty. Another 2 wouldn't have held the sun.

Nice work Sporgon ;)

I owned f1.4 for 2-3yrs. Nice lens.

Thanks Dylan. Regarding the 50/1.4 I didn't mention it was on manual focus.

Partly because I wanted it on about 8 metres to get maximum dof at f11,

But mainly because the AF has the common 50/1.4 failing : it's broken.

Really must get it sent in some time  ;D
