I don't see myself completely switching brands at the moment however, I'd love to add a possible A7RIII or A9R as a second body IF there is a Metabones update that allows Sony bodies to focus Canon lenses as fast as my 5D4 and 6D. If there is already something out there, someone please let me know!
As a stills shooter, the 5D4 has everything I need (even though making wide angle Cinema-graphs in 4K is complicated with the 1.74 Crop Factor). I love my 5D4 and I will go ahead and get the $99 C-Log update however, I wonder about the resale value of Canon in the next 4 to 5 years.
I recently sold a Yongnuo YN-E3-RT and it sold within 12 hours. On top of that, I sold eight YN560 flashes within a week. I had 3 Canon 600EX-RT flashes and it took almost 2 months to sell my first 600EX-RT, and the rest soon followed! Years ago, it took only a couple hours to sell my previous 580EXII, 430EXII, and 270EX! Most people wanted to seriously undercut my price for the Canon flashes because now, Godox seems to rain supreme in the Strobist world. For strobe work, I completely switched over from Canon, Yongnuo and Alienbees to all Flashpoint (Godox) gear, and I couldn't be happier!
Based on what Sony is doing, I wonder if they could do to Canon what Godox (along with other off-brand flashes) is already doing to Canon's flashes.
