What features, if any, made you almost choose...?

Before purchasing your canon dslr of choice, what brands' features tempted you to purchase their camera instead?

Personally, I was really tempted to get a Pentax for the weather sealing, in-camera stabalization and fps/price. Ultimately, I decided I live in a desert and weather sealing might not be most important to me. Plus, I liked the idea of buying used lenses and accessories and Pentax just didn't have as many being sold on CL and Ebay. The 7d was above what I wanted to spend, but I found a "deal" at one of those bait and switch websites. JUST before I paid for it, I read a review about who not to buy from, and it saved me a lot of grief and frustration. But, by then, I had read reviews and my heart was set on the 7d. It had weather sealing, high fps and excellent reviews, even if it was way more than I planned on spending. I have a wonderful wife who saw how much I was depressed that the too good to be true deal was, in fact, not true. She bought me the camera as an engagement present. The addiction for nice camera stuff was on. I'm so lucky to get the right brand from the beginning, but it makes me wonder why Canon only tries to compete with Nikon, and not knock out the niche markets, too.

Was there any features (weather sealing on crop sensor models? In-camera IS model? more fps? mirrorless?) that you would like to see Canon put in a body somewhere along it's line up? Where: FF or crop?

when i started 2 years ago, i had a 1000D and did not know anything about photography. a colleague of mine recommended that camera, and so did my canon adventure begin :P

soon i realised my sigma 17-200mm was not meeting my expectations, so i bought some L glass. now with a lot of money invested, i won't ever switch sides.

what i'd like to see is a BG-E6 like batterygrip with joystick (like the one on the 5DX/5DIII photos) that i can use on my 5D mk. II. that's it, i'm more than happy with the bodies and lenses i have at the moment.

If I understand your post; it is what features that "others" have that I want in Canon?

This is for the 5Diii by the way. If so, I want customizable crop captures, Let me burst +/-3EV and 5AEB in auto mode. Let me set limits to Auto ISO and allow it in Manual mode.
EOS-5D Mk.iii
Sigma 24-105mm F4 ART; EF 70-200 F/2.8L Mk.II; EF 100mm L F/2.8 IS Macro, 50mm F/1.8ii;  TC's 2x Mk.iii; 1.4x Mk.iii
