I dropped my 5D with Tamron lens as I was getting into the car (hadn't shut the camerabag properly and they fell out) they fell onto the bitumen road, bounced a couple of times, only minor damage, a few scratches and gouges on the camera body and lens hood, I think the plastic lenshood probably absorbed some of the shock of the fall.

Actually there is a follow up video with cracked lens and all.  The pictures weren't as bad as you would think.
