New 60D Firmware Coming?
« on: December 10, 2010, 10:12:35 PM »
Firmware 1.0.8 for the 60D A reader reports buying 2 60D’s and each camera had a different firmware version. One camera was 1.0.5, the other was 1.0.8.

I expect any 60D firwmare update will be “phenomenon” fixes.

1D Mark IV Firmware I’ve been told again that new firmware for the 1D4 is in the pipeline. A feature or 2 may be added which has delayed development.

Has the owner done a side by side comparison of the various menus looking for anything else that might be different?

Great site!!

My fingers are crossed (but not holding breath) that the new firmware has patched in a Microadjust for the AF. Any chance the owner of the 60D has checked for this?

Don't think it will have AF micro-adjust; considering the criticism that's been levelled at Canon over this, they would probably make a bigger deal over including it in a firmware upgrade -this is all a bit too low key.

Still, if it did contain AF micro-adjust, I wonder:

1) How many 60D owners would actually use it.
2) How many of those that did would make a mess of it!   ;)

If you are considering a 60D (as I was) and wanted the MA feature, why would you spend hundreds more to get it and get a different camera in the process (no articulating screen)?

If Canon thinks holding back on MA is going to drive people to a 7D for that, they are nuts.  (I don't believe they think that, so I am still puzzled why MA was withheld.  After all, it seems a natural think to put between a the Rebel and the 7D.)

Anyway, I am over it...    and looking instead for a different camera.  Something EVIL....

Hi,
I just got the 60D a few days ago and firmware was still 1.0.5. Anyway, the 60D focus more accurary than my old 40D and 450D on all my lens, so I don't need MA now... :p

Anyway, if they add a crop 1920x1080 mode, I'll be very happy (still dreaming)... very good for video birds...

   Have a nice day.

The live view autofocus times on the 60D are even *worse* than on the t2i - maybe they're at least fix that...

(the 60D should easily be as fast as the t2i)
