Canon EOS 5D Mark III body only in stock at Norman Camera [UPDATE], more in now!

Hey guys, i got a nice surprise 30 min ago at 11:37 am Mar 21st 2012. Norman Camera sent me an email confirmation of my 5dm3 being shipped. I called them and asked what their inventory was and he just told me they have 20 kits in stock right this moment! I told him I'd let people know you have them.

My 5dm3 is going to be at my doorstep tomorrow, asking self do i want to spend a couple hours on the road to get it in my hands today yet? Im going to try and wait.

One more thing because they actually physically have the 20 5d3 camera kits as of this morn they can ship out today so if you want overnight you will get it. The other thing is if you are somewhere near michigan you should get it tomorrow at no extra cost FYI, Ask to be sure though.

I just called and spoke to Andy he said they are getting a bunch more kits tomorrow and will be able to ship as soon as they come in like they did for me today. They dont get told how many they will get from Canon but he expects a bunch.

If you asked for the body only well i never said they had the body only in stock. They have fullfilled all their kit shipments for today of what they had in stock.

Andy says you can order them today and be shipped to tomorrow. Hes definitely getting a bunch in tomorrow and he wont jerk you around like other well known camera supply stores (edited out the store names out of kindness since one of those big companies sent me a cust survey asking what i thought about their cust service today) from what i've been reading.

New Update. Norman Camera has a bunch of body only that came in if you are still lookin. Order today and ship today. The have a few kits too. I am currently playing with custom functions on mine that came in around noon. It is amazing, i want 2!!

Im really happy for you man! The wait is over for me but i feel for others who feel locked into the wait. I pre paid last Fri so my wait was minimal!

Thanks! I just spoke with someone at Norman Camera and told them Kevin sent me.  I'm always a little nervous about making such a big purchase from a place that I've never heard of but B&H told me today that I'm not on the list to get the first shipment and they have no clue when more bodies will be arriving so basically can't tell me anything.

The man on the phone at Norman Camera was nice and professional. He said that they could ship it for free today and should arrive at my house by Monday.

He said I should get a confirmation through email soon.  Once I get the confirmation I will be calling B&H to cancel my order. 

They also have an insurance plan that I got with the camera.

I called and they said they have a couple left. But I am in Michigan and I would be forced to pay an extra $210 in state taxes, and that suckkkkksss. So I'll probably stick with my order from Cameta, which has me kinda worried as it is.

I am happy to help out my fellow photographers! You will drop your jaw when you see what you can do! The files are sweet. Sorry i have only tinkered, i wont post anything until i have time to really capture something.

I have bought most all of my camera gear from Norman Camera since 2005. They have always done their best to help me. I know i can pay a little less by not paying taxes online but to be honest sometimes you just gotta help out the business locally so they stay in business and keep thrivin. Also they have always matched prices from reputable dealers online. I have bought some specialized stuff from B&H, Adorama, Hunts and Calumet but only because Norman didnt stock the item i wanted. If they dont have a memory card i want i'll go with B&H. I have found Adorama sales people to be more curt and less helpful, its kinda like what do you want attitude. I am not trying to bash but thats how i felt so its rare i get something from them anymore.
The other reason i buy local is if anything isn't right you can go right to the store and they fix the problem.

Cancelled my order with B&H. My camera is on its way tonight!!!!!! YAY!! Thanks for the tip Kevin! I will definitely be using and recommending Norman Camera in the future if the shipment and everything goes through smoothly.  Will update on it when it gets here!
