5d3 and mountain ....

:) lovely form of the stones. Looks like it is my "I like it better in B&W" day. :)

I took the liberty of converting it to B&W and posting it here, Hope you don't mind.

thanks rpt...i don't mind, it looks great.   i have a version of it in b&w on my computer...looks great both ways.

Some shots from this weekend:

The Elven king and his unicorn didn't want their pics taken in the enchanted forest - I argued they were in a public place but they were having none of it. For the record, he speaks like the Hooded Claw from Penelope Pitstop cartoons. (17-40mm)

Duck on final approach was 300mm f2.8 IS mk1 and Kenko 2x converter. Not overly happy with that combo - images seem to be a bit too soft but what should I expect with a cheap converter? Ideal solution would be to buy the 600mm mk2 but then I'd always be thinking of the versatility of the new 200-400. Of course I could go the cheaper route of Canon's own 2x converter...or walk/swim closer to the subject. Tough decision.

The clich├ęd impressionistic seascapes were a first attempt at panning during a 6sec exposure. Should've used a reverse ND filter to tame the horizon but there's never one in your bag when you need it. Not to everyone's taste but a bit different. (17-40mm)

I use a canon 2X with my 300 f/2.8 and have found the AF to be inconsistent...it does help to increase your DOF by shooting at f/8 which increases the AF slop factor.       ;)

Greetings Everyone!

I'm happy to report brand new 5D3 freed from it's box!   :)

Here are some first few shots from a small local AirFest last saturday when coupled with 100-400L:

It was dark, cloudy and rainy day and my old 7D has always captured very noisy
and flat images in such conditions.
But I'm most pleased with the images from my new 5D3!  :)
Waited for it long time...   :)

Regards!

5d3 autofocus was pretty good....these ducks flew right over my head (I was on a bridge) and they were going quite fast.

it was very early morning and the sun had recently risen and was behind me, so it was low enough in the sky to light up the underside of the ducks as they rose to get up over the bridge.

in hindsight....i should've shot at 1/1000 or a little faster as it appears i have some motion blur....but not bad.
