Here is a butterfly that rests on this leaf in our garden on many nights. The image was taken around 8am under an overcast sky. 5D3 with 100-400 at 400mm, 1/200, f7.1, auto ISO, EC +1.3 and held. ISO went to 6400

Here is a dragonfly that came visiting. shot hand held with the 100-400 at 340mm, 1/500, 7.1, auto ISO. Ihe sky was overcast and the ISO went to 250.

5d3/50L - ISO 3200 - f/1.2 - 1/1000th
You coulda done this at iso 800. Shot looks great and at F1.2 dead on. Prob took a few to nail it i'd guess.

By the way i wanted to congratulate you on your purchase, your L collection will show its glorious colors even more accurately. Post processing is so much less with the 5dm3. This image is cropped, yes? I shot a bride at F1.2 on the 50L and her eye was the only thing in focus, you have the whole face. Just curious.

No, this is an uncropped image. I tilted the camera slightly down to move the plane of focus to get more of the face in focus @ f1.2. it's also been downsized to web resolution.
