My first shots with my new camera and my new baby kitty!
« on: March 29, 2012, 10:01:47 PM »
All the photos were taken at a relatively high iso.

I'm pretty happy so far!

that's impossible to properly judge from a photography standpoint! It's a cute cute baby Kitty and that's the only think I see!
Nice bokeh!

It was really more a test of the autofocus then anything else. And I am quite pleased! The only thing I REALLY dont like is that the focus point doesn't flash when you start focus like on the 5d2. Makes it tough to focus in the dark. I hope it doesn't prove to be a problem when I shoot my wedding over the weekend.

that can be changed in the menu, for sure. I've read it on the forum.

Unfortunately no. You can change it so AFTER it locks focus it blinks, but not when you start to focus like on the MK2

Sigma 85 F1.4. LOVE that lens. Half the price of the canon 1.2, and every bit as sharp. The canon has a little better contrast, but for almost $1000 difference, I'll just bump up the contrast in LR and be happy.

Quick and easy way to see where the focus point is when you start in the dark is to just tap the AF point change button on the back.  It'll light up for ya.

This is true, but its annoying to add an extra step before every photo! I'll let ya know if it really is a problem or not after I shoot my next wedding over the weekend. I just did my first portrait session today with the camera and it was great! It really helped with my super wide apertures. I'll post some of today's shots when I get them finished.
