DPP RAW-JPEG conversion, should I see an eye doctor now ...

I have always set the conversion image quality to 8... never changed it until today I wanna find out just how much differences are there from quality level 5-10, using 5D3 RAW files.

the result was quite surprising, I open the original RAW, the 5MB level 5 JPEG and the 16MB level 10 JPEG side by side, all in 100% view in DPP, and I couldn't tell which is which on my screen ...

the tripled difference in file size indicates that there are "huge" differences between the 2 JPEG image, but I really can tell with my naked eye.

so, usually what's the recommended reasonable conversion level setting? and why can I see any differences? or it only affect printing?

RAW was opened in SPEED mode.
