Exactly what I was thinking! I am too old for nightclubs but there are plenty of other places where they have lasers.
Is this just a Canon issue or does it affect the likes of Nikon etc?
I can't get over that! wow. I actually think the title of the thread should be changed to something like lasers can kill your camera!
I do hope you get it sorted out at no cost to yourself other than time and stress.
I bet a few sports photographers are a little worried about this, especially with the increased laser use directed at players.

i think I read in a Canon manual once that it said; "never point your camera directly at the sun", they could very easily have added, and/or laser. Sue them!!
If it isn't covered by warranty, use your travellers insurance.

Where I live people has recently been prosecuted for pointing lasers at aircraft as the come in to land. Lasers is said to temporarily blind the pilots.
I think I understand now why they take it so seriously!

I've been on the receiving end of this. Not cool at all. No eye damage to me, thankfully, but just a really stupid thing.
It happens a lot and I'm not sure what the intent is. It's really, really dumb. I am glad they are prosecuting people for this but it is extremely hard to catch people when it happens.

strange that the entire sensor isnt burnt as the laser surely would scan the whole area, it is odd it seems to be a single line of burnt pixels
