any more word on the 5d3+24-70 II Pro Kit?

Way back when it was announced they'd have a pro kit for a few hundred off buying them separately but it's been radio silence since.... Anyone heard any updates? Still in the cards? It would help make the 5D3 price seem more reasonable and justifiable.

When I ask my local store regarding this, they told me there was no plan to include the 24-70 as a kit lens.  I also dont think it will happen.  Canon seem to have pegged the 24-105 for that purpose.  Also, the sticker price of such kit would be much higher so not sure if this would impact sales.

I guess once that lens is actually available we might see a different approach, but there agin the initial demand should be good enought so that we will not see this lens as a kit for some time...unfortunately.

Ugh. Originally Canon had said late April for the Pro Kit. I forget but it was for either $300 or $400 USD off.

Wow they sure make it rough with their new pricing. 24-70 II is wayyy up there as is the 5D3 (compared to D800). A pro kit sure would help lure me one way rather than another....
You'd think they'd want to lure in those proven to be willing to buy their big $ glass and stick around....

Tables have turned once Nikon was $ and yet now they have the 'cheap' super-teles and pro bodies....

I sure have zero desire for the 24-105. And at this point in time, in all seriousness, a great deal of their potential 5D3 buyers you have to think either already have the 24-105 or tried it and were not pleased. I mean the kit still makes sense with the 24-105 but you gotta offer something else too....

I will probably get it when i go for a mk3 body for my wife after i get a working copy to make sure its good
but i want to test that lens against the 3 fast primes in the range it covers first too before i shell out that much money on it

also keep in mid these are australian prices and this is probably the cheapest we have any real hope of seeing this kit available for on this continent

+1 there.  I have no interest in the 24-105.  I tried 3 copies and while many are happy with it, I just find them on the soft side compared to my prime lens and can never get use to it.

Yeah same here I tried a few but had to go prime in the end, the ones I tried just looked all squishy at the edges (even stopped down) and while sharp enough in the center to be fine they were still not as sharp as my other zooms, even much less expensive ones. If I must have zoom then I just use a cheap Tamron. But the 24-70 II charts look so good I could see dumping the 24 prime+tamron zoom for it.

Just hope it doesn't turn into an Oceania thing only. Most of the early talk about it came out of Canon in Australia and New Zealand. Someone claimed they did see a mention of it for the US too though, even with official pricing and all for the US, but since then it's just gone silent. I wonder if Canon USA didn't decide to can the idea since then? In the past the kits haven't always been the same across all countries and some have decided to opt out of certain kits.

+1 there.  It yis that good, i may get rid of my 24 IIL but it will have to be darn good for that.  Since i dont use the 24 that often, i am hopping for the new zoom to make me drop a few prime

Where do you see the mentioning of "Pro Kit" from Canon announcement?  From Australia?

Perhaps the lens now being pushed back from mid April to July has something to do with it. Maybe it means just forget the Pro Kit or maybe it means it'll be mid-July at the earliest before you hear word about it again.

This would make for a great combo at xmas time to boost sales, not that we want to wait till then!
