That's a very cool comparison. The depth of the reflections in the first shot is amazing. Was this on a day where there was no wind at all, and hence no ripples in the water? Do you recall the shutter speed?

Thank you, both! I have no recollection of the shot's settings, but it had to be a fast exposure, as the water was moving just ever so slightly (click on the link and view it larger in flickr to see more detail). It was probably ISO 200 film and, judging by the lack of sharpness, faster than f/8. I do remember getting up early for a couple of months
to monitor the tides ("Yes, I am obsessive/compulsive. Why do you ask?"
), until I found the best time to photograph the scene. It can only be done during a brief window on a few days of the year, when the sun and tide are 'in sync' -- and that's if the weather cooperates!
