Just curious... isn't the idea of this thread is to post images made FAIRLY RECENTLY with older/cheap gear we still currently use?
There are some cool shots here, but I think it's lame if you are rummaging through your archives to find your mom's favorite photo.

I don't think its lame at all. Why should it matter when it was taken? I think the coolest thing posted on here was the two photos of the bridge taken 10 years apart with an old/new camera. Really neat comparison.

Nah, I didn't have any kind of "time limit" in mind when this thread was started. I just wanted to see people post nice images with equipment considered antiquated (film, 10D, 1Ds era stuff) or low-tech (point-and-shoots, cell phones). In retrospect, I could have articulated that better in the thread title.

Anyhow, here's another oldie from my 20D. The 10-22 can have some crazy distortion when this close to the subject, so it was always critical to get the angles right.

Why do you think it's lame to dig through archives? Maybe you should do it... It's quite entertaining

There are some great photos on here and fail to understand the comment about our mothers' favorite photos.

To appease anyone who is unhappy with the idea of rummaging through old photos, here is one shot with my G5 in late March. After I got a G11, the G5 got "rebirthed" as an infrared camera.

9 years ago, not exactly cheap (Canon 10D with 28-105 lens) but definitely old

Canon T2i (550D) on cowboy shoulder mount ($25, cheap but not old), using Leitz Summilux-R 50mm f/1.4 from 1976 (old but not cheap, at least by vintage glass standards)

Some of the photos posted in this thread have been taken using what is still my 'current' digital camera. It's probably time for me to upgrade... $:-\$

Here are a few more, in order: Kiron 105mm f/2.8, Helios 44M-6 58mm f/2, Carl Zeiss Jena 135mm f/3.5, Cyclop (Helios 40) 85mm f/1.5. All of these are M42 mount lenses that I use on my 60D via an M42-to-EOS converter I bought off eBay. All are 20+ years old, but the pictures were taken within the last year. The Cyclop was pulled off a Russian night vision monocle. Cheers!
