1Dx vs. 1D mk IV vs. 7d
« on: April 25, 2012, 07:45:00 PM »
I pre-ordered a 1Dx and just bought a 2nd hand 1D mk IV and plan on testing them out vs my 7d. Anyone else interested in my results?

I planned to do low light high iso noise tests, and fps tests examples. Is there anything else you would like to see tested? 1Dx Intelligent tracking or AF perhaps?

Yes, Im very interested in your results with the 7D vs the 1d4 as I see that as the step up (not the 5d3 at all). Also because I have my eye on the 1d4 prices to see if they drop when the 1dx finally appears. I cant afford a 1dx, but maybe, just maybe I could pick up a second body in the form of a 1d4.

Totally agree with that - did that too.

I see the 5DIII as the upgrade from the 60D and 5DII.

Not a fair fight (the 1d is shot at iso 6400 vs 3200 for the 7d) but this gives a real life comparison with the same type of shot. Both processed with ACR.  The noise quality is 'less and  different' with the 1d, but both hold up to printing at 16x20 well.

I couldn't decide myself between these three options of upgrades or even if I need to upgrade for low light. I want a 600mm too, but I am putting that on the back burner until I decide between the bodies.

I was really hoping the 1DX would lower the price of used Mark IVs to 3K or less, but without shipping, I think it's made things worse.

So no surprise, the 1d4 is cleaner than the 7d.

Yes. I'd like to see a 1Dx.
