These sales happen every spring and fall, and often at other times as well.  If you bought something from Adorama, you have 30 days to return it for a refund, and then you can buy the combo deal.

Does anyone notice this trend? I'm one that monitors lens prices and have noticed that every time there's a "discount" it's just an excuse for an increase in pricing. The so called discount is actually the current price and they actually raised the base price. So once, the "promotion" period is over, the lens prices actually gets increased. I'm very sure that 70-200 IS II was going for less than $2000 last year! Of course, the general public wouldn't notice and there's nothing we can do about it either! Argh!

I bought my 70-200 II last year for $1999 refurbed from canon, new retail price at the time was $2499. I don' t think they are raising the prices when they have rebates.

Don't go as far as last year. about four weeks ago, the 70-200 was $2299 everywhere and suddenly all retailers raised the price to $2500 and refused any discount. I just realized that Canon is playing with their customers with FALSE rebate, which is not rebate at all, they just brought the prices back to their original.

I don't blame them, as they have fan-boys who would defend them whatever they do.

Hello all,

I had problems with the purchase at crutchfield it appears...and am looking at amazon.com now for buying the 5D Mark III kit...plus the canon 85mm 1.8 lens.

I've got the camera in my cart at amazon...camera is sold by them...85mm (from the link to amazon) is from 17th street, and I also see Adorama, etc.

The price in my cart...reflects the $30 off if just buying a lens. It doesn't show double $30 off with the camera purchase too......when I had this in the cart at crutchfield, they automatically took the $60 off.

I'm guessing at amazon, this is due to two different sellers selling the camera kit and the prime lens.

My question is, I guess....can I get the 'doubled' rebate from canon...do they have a rebate form...or is it that the seller is supposed to be automatically taking the 'rebates' and double rebates off at time of purchase?

Thanks in advance,

cayenne
