Glass Scratch on G12
(1/1)
Hector1970:
Hi All,
I love my G12 I use it as a backup camera. I often squeeze it into my pocket.
Unfortuntately it doesn't have a Lenscap (which I think the G1X now has).
At some point it must have rubbed against keys.
The lens is slightly scratched :'(.
Is there anything can be done with that - can you buy anything that reduces scratches (without reducing image quality)?
Would that be an expensive repair :o?
Kind Regards
Hector

It will affect resale value significantly, image quality insignificantly, unless the scratch is huge and deep. Even then, maybe not as much as you'd think - read this.

I just recently took my husband to get a protecting skin on his phone, and I think they can also do skins on a camera lens. They are called XOskins. I don't know how much it costs for a camera, but for the phone they had really great deals.
Maybe that will help so you won't get more scratches on your G12 lens.

XO skins are sold to protect the protective glass cover over the rear LCD diaplay, not over a lens. Its ironic that some people buy something to protect a protector, which is easily replaced.
Its kinda like buying insurance on insurance.
