Is the IQ from the 5d3 really as bad as everyone is saying?

I have heard lots said about the 5d3, the IQ, soft focus ect ect ect. I have just been playing around, having come from a 50d the step is a large one, one that will take some time to get to grips with. I say this because even with my limited knowledge and experience I am finding it a delight. With this in mind I pushed it a little yesterday with a 70-200L 2.8 mkii and a 2x to try and take some photos of birds in the garden. I have done some minor adjustments on LR4 and cropped it 100%, but here it is, comments please??

P.S. The silent shutter whilst not completely silent did not spook the birds, so big thumbs up for that.

It doesn't matter what everyone else says as long as you're happy with the IQ, I personally think the images look great.

Looks like the IQ is fine Gary.  Could possibly use a bit more post processing as the background needs to be pulled away from your subject a bit more since they are similar in color but other than that the image appears fine.

Well, if you are shooting for a client, it matters quite a bit what other people think...

But I highly doubt you will find a client who doesn't like the image quality coming out of this baby.

It's so bad that you might as well sell it without bothering to use it any more -- and, its awfulness is such that you shouldn't even expect to find a buyer for $100. I'll do you a favor and take it off your hands for $150.

looks good, contrast is to low, lens flare or picture style set to neutral? Any how IQ is great. It just needs a little more color saturation and contrast

Very nice photo. It's hard to tell whether it is better than the images shot from other cameras though without side by side comparison.

Thanks everyone, I had heard so many people with negative comments about this camera that I just thought I would take a pic with what people also say is a bad set up, a 70 200 with a 2 X converter and see the response. I am pretty happy with the camera but was beginning to wonder if I was going crazy, nice to have some reassurance, so Trumpet Power, its not for sale yet, sorry

I remember when my XSI broke and I got my new 7D refub from the canon store. My XSI photos were always tack sharp but i couldn't get those results from my 7D. It drove me nuts until i fully understood the AF settings and disabled all in camera processing to minimize noise.

Then it was a awesome camera. New gear takes a bit to learn then it becomes even better.

BTW I have found on past cameras that lightroom is not as good as DPP with raw, I hear that is still true with the 5d Mark III. Try reprocessing it in DPP you may found it does a better job in raw. Make sure you have all noise reduction settings to 0.
