« on: May 15, 2012, 09:17:49 AM »
Hey guys! How are you all? Ummm I am new to this website and all, and I am new to the DSLR world so i know nothing! I bought a Canon 60D (EFS 18-135mm Lens) and I bought it to help me film my youtube videos! So i really don't know how to adjust the settings to get the best quality + every time i try to film it films for 7-10 seconds then stops automatically  :'( . So if you can help me change this i would be grateful!
Thank you soo much!

Your card probably isn't fast enough.

You need at least a class 6, preferably a class 10.   Stated data rate of 15mbs or higher (better at 30MB/s)

I've used sandisk class 6 20MB/s and they were generally fine, occassionaly I would get the buffer icon warning, since swapping to class 10 30 & 45MB/s cards I've had no problems.

The other issue is card capacity.  Video will eat GB's for breakfast.  Typically 3 mins HD recording equates to 1GB of card space.
Canon 7D, T3i, EOS M, EOS 3, GoPro HD Hero & Hero 2, powershot sx230 hs,  Canon 70-200 f2.8 L, Canon 100mm f2.0, Sigma 70mm f2.8 Macro,  Canon 50mm f1.8, Canon 22mm f2.0, Sigma 18-50 f2.8, Tokina 11-16 f2.8, Lensbaby Composer, Holga HL

1080p/30fps ~330Mt/min, so indeed full HD video eats card and FAST.
3min * 330Mt = 990Mt ~1GB

So get 30-60Mb/s 8 or 16Gb card and after that you should get quality video w/o any frame drops or stops.
I use 8GB SanDisk Ultra 30MB/s works just fine.

And by the way, welcome to canonrumors!

Few things, use a shutter speed of 1/50 if shooting 24fps and 1/60 if shooting 30fps.  Try to stick to ISO's in multiples of 160 (160,320,640,1250), they produce less noise than 200,400,800.
