First time use of CF and SD: Is format required?
« on: May 17, 2012, 06:54:51 PM »
Do I need to format the CF and SD card in the camera before first use?
If so....I can't find in the manual how to do this...any suggestions?

Nevermind...I found the format option on the menu.
:)

Still asking if I need to format before first use please...

Thank you,

cayenne

I really don't understand WHY even ask the question . . just format them!

DO so after every new refill/shoot, etc.

I'd format a new card.  Every time you have successfully downloaded your images and have them backed up, format the card in your camera before using it again.

A format takes all of 3 seconds.

READ THE MANUAL!  If you start a new thread for every question you're going to have in the next few weeks people are going to get really annoyed.  You already have 4 or 5 posts at the top of this page, at this rate this section will become "Cayenne's Question Corner" pretty quickly.  Use the search and google, the answers to the majority of your questions are already out there.  If you absolutely can't find it after a few minutes of digging, then ask.

Yes please do format, that would be best practice.

Give the guy a break, he asked a question, he's new by the sounds of it. No one RTFM . That's just life. Support centers wouldn't exist if people googled or read it . At least he's not a Nikon troll .
