Possible issues with Sandisk Extreme Pro 32g CF

When i put the card in the 5dm3 the red buffer light flickers non- stop when i put any other card it flickers for about 2 sec to read the card then the red light goes out. WTF?

try formatting it in the computer (assuming you cant format in camera)...

It works it writes but i can imagine it wearing a battery out prematurely

Formatting from my computer Actually worked. I formatted my other troubled card on the 5dm3 and it cleared up the problem also. I had to double check making sure i had backups before testing the format option. I seriously have not seen that in all my years shooting with CF cards.

they are both brand new used once.

Doesn't matter. Wait until you shoot with them again and see if you have the same issue. If you do, send them back for replacements. Lifetime warranty.

I would replace them now.  Sandisk is great about their warranty.

Are there images on the card when you put it in? The camera reads the file structure when you put the card in, so if there are images on there it is looking at the FAT information and may take a bit to register the images, especially for a large 32gb card. Saying the card is bad is uninformed and probably wrong advice, if the card is working fine and you can copy/read files on it, then nothing to worry about.

I called them and they are going ot send replacements. They are from the same batch code too.

Robert my 16 gig card flashes 1 maybe 2 sec when i put it in. These both flash prob 3min or more. When you doubt a card its hard to ever use it again best to get replacements. I personally have somewhere around 30 mem cards most from Sandisk and am hardcore for Sandisk as they never fail me. I even have Sandisk SSD drives as of recently. I remain hardcore Sandisk.

I've posted a few times before in some other threads that Convergent Design has pulled their approval of San Disk Extreme and Extreme Pro CF cards in their equipment because of a design change of the cards that has caused data errors.

I only buy Sandisk including my ssd's and never had issues. If you browse the eventspace video's from B&h there is a bloke with a presentation about memory cards. He is not from Sandisk ,but he claims they break in one of three ways.  Out of the box after the first 20 uses you will know there is an issue, physical damage though the human factor and then (the scary bit) if you pull the card from a device while it is in a read/write cycle you kill it completely and cannot recover images! The latter contributes to 90% of all reported failures.

I used to use only Sandisk cards, but I got myself a couple of the new Lexar 1000X cards (150mb/sec), and they are fantastic.
Just as good quality as Sandisk, but faster AND cheaper!

I have 2 of these cards and 2 64gb pros and neither are giving me any problems.

Did you get them from a genuine dealer? They may be fakes
