If you use the camera on a daily basis and earn your living from it, the price is of little consequence. A tradesman who was here last week showed me his $500 cordless drill. That's a lot for a drill. He loves it. It's the best. He wouldn't settle for less. Same thing.
As someone who generally has 1-Series bodies, the delay in the 1DX release finally wore me down and I have now been working with a 5D3/BG-E11 alongside my 1D4. While the 5D3 is a good practical camera, it feels unrefined compared to 1-Series. The 5D series has bulked right up and with a BG-11 grip is taller, thicker, bulkier & 30 grams heavier than the 1D4. The ergonomics and performance of the 1-Series is in another universe. I'll pay the asking price.
