Sticky topics at the top of the front page...

I think these are being over done.

For example today, I go to the front page of canonrumors and the top article is the "Preorders" thing and not the announcement of the 650D.

The preorders thing was there yesterday, today's news is the 650D...

If I see that the top story hasn't changed on the front page then I'm very unlikely to scroll down... don't know about others...

My guess is that it's being manually "managed" for the illusion of control. For most of the past it appeared to be a simple automatic indexing update.

No matter what, it's not being done well to maintain interest and forum discussions and views.

The sticky topics at the top do not even try to give a illusion of being automatically managed.  they are for articles of general photographic interest, not intended to have a relation to the forum.
The sidebar on the right is automatically managed and shows topics with a approx 15 minute delay.  It is intended to guide users to current forum topics.
The forum has grown by a huge amount this year, so something is being done right.

I think that a lot of us "window shoppers" have started to get their heads out of the sand and started to share.

Put me down as #1 on this list - I can't even remember how long I've been reading before diving in to register.  Let us do our best to keep up the wonderful community and avoid trolling, bashing, etc.

I think there is room for reasonable well thought criticism of the forum, I'm not bashing anyone.  I enjoy Dilbert's posts.  I do wish that they wee not so reptitive, sometimes the same post in several threads, but people who live in glass houses ...
