Buying 5D Mark III from Amazon???

I just saw that Amazon has the 5D III selling for $3399 which is about $100 less than most reputable dealers.  Anyone buy expensive gear from Amazon and want to share your experience - good or bad?

I do it all the time and have never had a problem.  Ever.  I'd say if you want the 5D Mark III and you have the funds, get it right now off Amazon.  If I can I always choose the amazon.com seller vs. the other sellers, which is usually the first choice.

Yes do it, i bought 2 Samsung 240htz 55 inch 3 D HDTV's from them and had absolutely no problem and thats a huge item that can be busted very easily in transit.

Yes, I have also bought a lot of Canon gear from Amazon with never a problem.  In addition, they have a very easy and great return policy.

Never have an issue buying off Amazon - and will most likely get my 5D3 off Amazon - sadly i'm in the UK - and that site still doesn't list the 5D3!

I am a amazon prime member and have been enjoying amazon for years but recently they have started taxing like crazy for everything you buy from them. Again depends on the state ..I checked B&H photo and they seem to save you about 350-400$ if you combine your MKIII with a few lenses...Till July 28th there is some promotion from Canon on various rebates on lenses..i d check with B&H

I've been a prime member for years and buy a lot of items from/through them and I've never had an issue.  From TV's to cameras, computers, anything.  If you need a return they really are awesome as well as for replacements.
Tax is a new issues for many Amazon customers so you should take that into account as nairfotografia posted, B&H is really good too and there are many others.
If you look at the Amazon price you can see many small shops selling through the Amazon stores as agents and the price will show you it is Amazon, Abe's, or any other store selling the camera or item.

I got mine for 3299 from Dell but I called in for the price, the web had 3499.

tphillips - can you tell me how you got the deal at 3299 ? was it a bundled deal with lenses ? also do they charge you taxes at Dell ? B&H doesn't...

I've never had an issue with my purchases from the zon. For the 5D3 though I just could not figure out how to get the double rebate with the lens bundle, so had to go with B&H. Anyone else had this issue?

Buy 90% of my gear from Amazon (sold & shipped by Amazon).  Some 3rd party Amazon dealers I trust like Norman Camera, otherwise I buy from B&H since prices are usually identical. 

I do have Amazon CC will motivates me to by from Amazon since it yields a nice kick back.  If you are going to make a big purchase, check into getting a Amazon credit card since you might get a nice percent off first use purchase.

Amazon is a reputable dealer.

Just make sure you're buying from Amazon, and not one of the grey-market dealers that sells through Amazon.

Never bought camera gear through Amazon, but everthing else I've bought through them has been problem free.  I would suggest Crutchfield.  The cost is $3,499, but you get Crutchfield rewards which would be 5% of the toal ($174.95) to spend there later. The credit never expires and it is free to sign up for the rewards program. Additionally, if you know anything about Ebates, you can access Crutchfield through Ebates and get another 2.5% cash back ($87.48) for which they will mail you a check for that amount. I just bought a 5d Mk III kit from them and used this process with no problem. Crutchfield is also a highly reputable dealer.
