Stupid missing feature on 5D2 (auto iso)

The auto iso goes only up to 400 ISO. Both 5D3 and 7D goes higher. Am I over looking something ?

Wrong.  I owned the 5D Mark II for a long time and Auto ISO certainly goes well beyond 400.  Can we talk you through this?  Switch to Av mode and Tv mode, auto ISO and go in a darker room and meter. In Tv mode set aperture to like f/8 and shutter speed to 1/500, something where you need a lot of light. The ISO should go well, well above 400 after metering.  Now switch to M mode and see what happens.  In M mode I always set my ISO, so cannot recall whether in M mode ISO can be set to AUTO like in the 1D series.  Make sure there are not advanced settings somewhere set.  I did that on my 1Ds3, had a setting deep in a menu set whereby I couldn't autofocus.  When I finally found after having contemplated crashing camera out upstairs window, it worked fine.

It goes up to ISO 3200.  See page 58 in your manual.  However, there is no auto ISO when in manual mode, that was added in later to the 5D MK III

It goes up to ISO 3200.  See page 58 in your manual.  However, there is no auto ISO when in manual mode, that was added in later to the 5D MK III

Ahhhh thank you!  So did we find yet another upgrade from 5D II to 5D III?  Either way thanks, I just couldn't remember.  I suppose ISO safety shift could keep it 100-400, but that's the only thing I can think of at this point.  At ISO 3200 the 5D II will perform very well.

Yeh, I meant  manual - that when its stops @ 400. That why I called it stupid as it goes to 3200 in AV and TV.
I like to control both speed and aperture - and let the ISO float.  I have a 5D3 as well, so I will survive.  However it would have been useful, when I use two bodies.

Not quite.  HTP prevents you from setting ISO to 100, but that's about it.

On the 5D Mark III, you can shoot in M mode and set AUTO ISO for the full range.  I tested that feature out last night.  I am not sure why the 5D Mark II is like it is.  Although, I shouldn't complain because the 1Ds III you cannot set ISO to auto at all in M mode.  That's why you do the Av mode trick, so you get shutter, aperture, ISO, and exposure comp, ALL FOUR able to adjust in one mode!!     Not to be in the 5D Mark II though.  But that's ok.  Just manually set your ISO and you're just fine.
