Awesome shot. tones, saturation and comp look really nice.  Tonemapped I assume?  If not, nice reverse ND grad filter usage, if so how many exposures...


Hi @lex, thanks for your comments and praise.
I actually did NOT use any ND filter and shot one unique RAW exposure in this case. I've later post-process it by adding three gradient filters in Lightroom
1) the sea more saturated and a little greater exposure
2) the sun with lower contract and exposure
3) the entire sky with more tweeks: mainly color updates (more blue and pink), contrast, saturation, clarity, highlights, shadows

Anyway, I've been really happy of the result and how great the 5D Mk III performed with such lighting, and this quick changes made it stand out nicely.

Well, I was standing on a beach when I took the photo, it was very early in the morning, on the Isle of Wight. Photograph of the early arrival of the Queen Mary 2 in the Solent towards Southampton.  Taken using 100-400L

Nothing wrong with the picture, but I think that's the ugliest ship on the seas. Just a big hotel on a barge. It's a disgrace to the beautiful original Queen Mary.
