Lifecycle of 1dx and 5dmkiii rant

5dmkiii and 1dx are undeniably inextricably linked; heaven forbid the market reaction if the mkiii had been released with a 39mp sensor along with a 18mp 1dx. I for one am really worried about whether the money I put down now will be to waste as I find it hard to believe canon can stay in the game competitively with what seems on paper at least, ISO aside, rather underwhelming features and specs. Bear in mind it can only look worse in 2 years time which will no doubt prompt newer models being announced or even released in a shorter lifecylce than usual to stay competitive, especially to all the fast growing new first time buyers. Besides which my trusty mkii and and mkiv perform just as well as usual with only marginal improvements offered by an upgrade. I just can't help feeling that it would be prudent to wait it out a few months to see how the market reacts.(which is an awfully longtime should these bodies get a refresh in about 2 years).
Feel free to slap me down for these rather pessimistic outlook.
